When it comes to mineral makeup ingredients you need to make a few choices as not all mineral makeup brands are created equal. My philosophy has been less is more since I have had such sensitive skin. If that is the case for you here is what I recommend in a formula.
Just look for the simplest Mineral makeup with the fewest all naturally mineral, leave out the filler , the bindings and the chemicals. Mineral Hygienics is a great example of this. Their formulas only contain 4 ingredients: Titanium Dioxide, Iron Oxides, Mica and Zinc Oxide. On their site they have examples of what the “big name brands” place in their makeup and it’s sure not all naturally and safe for sensitive skin!
Mineral Hygienics makeup is pure and natural. It’s a makeup that’s good for your skin! Contains no harmful chemical additives dyes or irritants. Natural Mineral makeup is so gentle on the skin it’s recommended by plastic surgeons, dermatologists, and estheticians. Find your perfect shade at Mineral Hygienics today.
Ingredients to avoid:
If you have sensitive skin I recommend you stay away from an ingredient most mineral makeup companies put in their formulations- bismuth oxychloride since this has a tendency to itch some women’s skin.
Any of the Parabens such as Ethylparaben, Propylparaben, Methylparaben. These are a chemical preservative that are found in most cosmetics but have been found to mimic estrogen and are linked to cancer. Regardless of if they are dangerous, they are unnecessary in a true mineral makeup as pure minerals do not harbor bacteria.
Dimethicone is another ingredient I would stay away from as it is s chemical silicone. This can easily be replaced by a natural silica if wanted.
